ARTS EDUCATION

We offer several interactive community workshops and residencies tailored to audiences, ages and interest.  Classes are accessible to those interested in Exercise & Fitness, Drum/Percussion, Dance Movement, Sound Safari, Storytelling, Senior Mementos and Instrument Crafting.  Classes are taught by professional instructors working as a team and are also ADA compliant.  

EXERCISE AND FITNESS

These classes are available for those interested in exercise and conditioning for all ages. African dance has maintained a long standing universal appeal and is one consummate cardio and conditioning exercise routine. Classes are accompanied with live music and song.
 

DRUM/PERCUSSION CLASSES

Instruction in drum and percussion provides opportunity for students to explore a variety of instruments that comprise the drum orchestra as well as a variety of drums and techniques.
 

DANCE MOVEMENT

Participating children and adults have a great opportunity to exercise, improve coordination, develop their self-esteem plus experience the pride of accomplishment. All ages are welcome and you work at your own pace.
 

INSTRUMENT CRAFTING

Classes and workshops are presented in crafting a variety of traditional African instruments and are suitable for all ages from beginners to intermediate.  Programs can be arranged for after school, camps, parties or workshops.  One of the more popular workshops is drum repair, tuning and maintenance.
 

SOUND SAFARI

A unique hands-on experience for the youngsters and elders alike.  We explore the sounds of the forest with instruments, storytelling and song.
 

STORYTELLING

In the tradition of so many African countries the storyteller is the centerpiece. They are walking talking libraries with a grasp of the history the traditions and family lineages.  They typically are the single most important person in the village. Presentations are suitable for all ages and usually have musical accompaniment.
 

SENIOR MOMENTOS

This program is for are seasoned audiences of 55 and over.  We stroll down memory lane with poetry, stories and song. Light percussion music and movement makes for a fun filled event for all.
